The thick noxious black plume of smoke that continues to bellow from the Buncefield oil depot is affecting more people than is being reported.
"Media reports are not taking into account the 'real' number of casualties," comments a spokesperson for AHP "we have taken over 200 calls in the last 24 hours from people living and working in the vicinity of the Buncefield oil depot."
Nurses at AHPs' contact centre have reported unprecedented high volume of calls from people living in the Hemel Hempstead area calling to speak to AHPs' nurses.
Nurse Emma Garret took a call this morning from a lady complaining of 'breathlessness'. The lady just two miles away from the oil depot called to report difficulty in breathing. Another caller reported symptoms of anxiety caused by the stress of having to move out of his damaged home into a hotel.
"The hidden cost to business that this disaster will bring is alarming," comments Ingolv Urnes, CEO of AHP, "absence is costly and with the great number of people being affected by the disaster employers in and around London will experience an increase in the number of working days lost and a decrease in productivity levels."
